A key highlight of the event was the presentation by Sinhala and Muslim youth and women, who highlighted the issues faced by the Southern Malaiyaha Tamil people. In response, Governor Yapa made a significant commitment to addressing educational disparities. He pledged to resolve issues faced by Tamil schools in the Southern Province by recruiting teachers from the Malaiyaha community for essential subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Commerce. Governor Yapa assured attendees that he would formalize this recruitment process by issuing a gazette notification within a week.
The rally underscored the importance of unity and collaboration among different ethnic communities in promoting peace, democracy, and human rights. By addressing educational inequalities and fostering inclusivity, the VOPP and the attendees demonstrated their commitment to improving the lives of the Malaiyaha community and ensuring a brighter future for all.
